Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive energy transition-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 12%, emerged as the top energy transition-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 29% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 8% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 38% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent energy transition roles include Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share in Q3 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 40% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Valvoline, Solvay, Shell, SBM Offshore, and Albemarle. Together they accounted for a combined share of 40% of all energy transition-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.
Valvoline posted 1,575 energy transition-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Solvay 618 jobs, Shell 540 jobs, SBM Offshore 503 jobs, and Albemarle 400 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 55.10% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023
The largest share of energy transition-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 55.10% followed by Australia (7.01%) and the UK (5.50%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 53.11% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
