Notably, Architecture and Engineering Occupations jobs accounted for a 17% share of the global oil and gas industry’s future of work-related total new job postings in Q4 2023, down 4% over the prior quarter.
Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 17%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 4% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 13% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent future of work roles include Production Occupations with a 9% share in Q4 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 17% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were BASF, NES Global Talent Norge, Air Liquide, NOV, and Baker Hughes. Together they accounted for a combined share of 17% of all future of work-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.
BASF posted 287 future of work-related new jobs in Q4 2023, NES Global Talent Norge 268 jobs, Air Liquide 266 jobs, NOV 213 jobs, and Baker Hughes 209 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 58.15% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 58.15% followed by India (9.67%) and Canada (4.53%). The share represented by the US was nine percentage points lower than the 66.85% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
