Notably, Architecture and Engineering Occupations jobs accounted for a 16% share of the global oil and gas industry’s lng-related total new job postings in Q1 2024, down 17% over the prior quarter.
Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive lng-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 16%, emerged as the top lng-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q1 2024, with new job postings drop by 17% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 9% in Q1 2024, with new job postings rising by 13% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent lng roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 7% share in Q1 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 40% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2024 were Santos, Venture Global LNG, John Wood Group, Exxon Mobil, and NES Global Talent Norge. Together they accounted for a combined share of 40% of all lng-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.
Santos posted 91 lng-related new jobs in Q1 2024, Venture Global LNG 82 jobs, John Wood Group 76 jobs, Exxon Mobil 67 jobs, and NES Global Talent Norge 58 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 41.18% share of total new job postings, Q1 2024
The largest share of lng-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 41.18% followed by Australia (20.64%) and India (6.52%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points lower than the 45.97% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
